What’s the trick to Photographing Dogs in Glasses?
After posting several photos on Instagram of Vince in sunglasses to celebrate National Sunglasses Day on June 27, I got several questions how does he do it? More like how do I do it!
Here’s a photo of Vince in glasses, can you spot my secret?
The trick to photographing dogs in glasses:
Pipe cleaners or chenille stems.
Some others have told me they use hair elastics, but I haven’t figured out how to fix them to both arms of the glasses and get them on Vince.
For his sake, when I take posed photos of him, I like to move fast so with the pipe cleaner trick I can slip the glasses on and step back for the photo.
Sometimes I just rest the glasses on his tiny snout and work even faster!
Use kids sunglasses
My other trick is to use kids sunglasses because they have shorter arms so less chance of poking him in the neck. If you have a bigger dog this isn’t going to matter as much.
Some places online sell dog glasses, but you’re limited by the designs and I haven’t found many are that appealing to justify their price.
Shop the Dollar Spots
As for finding kids glasses, I shop places like Dollar Tree, Target Dollar Spot, Five Below, Joann, Michaels and party favor shops because I can find a variety and they’re usually under 5 bucks.
Do you have a dog who likes to wear glasses? Leave a comment and tell me about your pet in glasses!
